WIST,June 7-- The Myanmar Vocational Education and Training Base for Excellent Seafarers held its first special lecture on Chinese culture, specifically focusing on “Catering on Board” as a part of China’s food culture. The lecture was presented by Jin Haitao, a part-time teacher from the School of Transportation Engineering.

In order to facilitate the quick, harmonious, and effective integration of foreign crew members into the atmosphere of Chinese-foreign mixed ships, Jin Haitao combined the dietary habits of Burmese and Vietnamese sailors and compared the diets on Chinese and foreign ships. He elaborated on the intricate relationship between China’s traditional cuisine and its cultural geography, enabling foreign seamen to develop a new cultural understanding and resonance based on their comprehensive grasp of China’s diverse food culture.

Food is of utmost importance to the people, whether they live on land or embarking on a voyage with ships. This lecture, using food culture as a starting point, provided a comprehensive and profound communication platform for sailors in the base to perceive Chinese culture through rich visual materials and cloud-based classes.
